Academy Museum: tickets, hours and how to get there

A guide to separating general admission, screenings and the Oscars Experience while planning transit, parking and accessibility

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036. For a 2026 visit, the main decision is choosing among three distinct products: general admission, a film screening and the Oscars® Experience. They are not interchangeable. Advance reservations are encouraged, and visitors should check hours and closures on the official Plan Your Visit page before leaving, because details may change.

Hours and closures

The museum is open Wednesday through Monday from 10am to 6pm, in Los Angeles local time, and closed Tuesdays. The store operates Wednesday through Monday from 11am to 7pm; Fanny’s Restaurant and Café operates on the same days from 10am to 7:15pm. Both also close on Tuesdays. The restaurant, store and film screenings can be accessed without a museum ticket.

Several changes have already been announced. On October 5, 2026, the publication date of this guide, the Spielberg Family Gallery is closed. The entire museum will close on October 17 and open at noon on October 18. The East Rolex Gallery on Level 3 will be closed from October 19 through December 12, 2026. Because galleries may also close for exhibition updates, holidays or special events, consult the official closure list on the day of your visit.

General admission prices

General admission is $25 for adults, $19 for people age 62 and older, and $15 for students age 18 and older with valid ID. Visitors age 17 and under, museum members, Academy members and EBT cardholders receive free admission, subject to the official conditions.

An onsite discount is available after 4:30pm: $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. Visitors under 18 remain free. TAP cardholders receive $2 off full-price admission in person by presenting the card at the Winkler Welcome Center. Museum members can receive $5 off general admission for up to two guests per visit.

General admission covers the museum but does not automatically include the Oscars Experience. The source provided does not state a recommended visit length or a time limit, so plan according to the galleries that are open and any timed commitments.

Screenings and the Oscars Experience are separate

General admission is not required for a film screening. Public screening tickets cost $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for students and visitors age 17 and under. Member prices for those categories are $8, $6, $4 and $4, respectively. Screenings before 4pm count as matinees: $5 for the public and $4 for members. Double bills add $2. Seating is neither reserved nor assigned, and advance purchase is highly recommended.

The Oscars Experience is an immersive simulation of winning an Oscar. It requires its own ticket plus same-day general admission. It costs $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and museum members, $5 for students, and is free for visitors age 17 and under.

Getting there and parking

The Wilshire/Fairfax Metro rail station, at 6026 Wilshire Boulevard, is across the street from the Academy Museum–LACMA complex. A bus stop is also located next to the museum. Rideshare passengers should use the Roddenberry Lane drop-off, reached from the Fairfax Avenue entrance; bike racks are available on campus.

Paid parking is available nearby at LACMA’s Pritzker Parking Garage, the Onyx Tower garage and the Petersen Automotive Museum. The stated range is $10 to $40 depending on time and location. On November 7, 2026, space in the Pritzker Garage may be limited. The official parking page also lists accessible parking, electric-vehicle charging and street-parking alternatives. There is no valet service or overnight parking; read posted signs and safeguard belongings.

Confirm accessibility arrangements in advance

The museum directs visitors to a dedicated page covering wheeled mobility devices, equipment rental, service animals, caregivers, options for blind or low-vision visitors, Deaf or hard-of-hearing visitors, sensory needs, and captioning for programs and screenings. The supplied material does not explain the terms of each resource, so confirm your specific requirement through the accessibility page or the official phone number, 323-930-3000, before purchasing.

Checklist before visiting

First, verify that the museum and the galleries you want will be open. Then purchase each desired product separately: general admission, a screening and the Oscars Experience. Compare Metro, bus, rideshare and parking against your reserved time. Finally, confirm onsite discounts and accessibility arrangements directly with the institution. The frequently asked questions section identifies the policies worth reviewing if your plans change.
