Aichi–Nagoya 2026: changed sessions and refund rules

Anyone holding a ticket for rowing or eventing at the Aichi–Nagoya 2026 Asian Games should check the session code before setting out: ROW06, ROW07 and EQU01 have been invalidated and will be refunded; ROW04 remains valid but may be refunded if unused; EQU02 remains valid and is not refundable. A ticket for an invalidated session does not grant admission to the rescheduled competition.

The organizing committee detailed these rules in a notice published on September 21. Further changes may still occur, so check the official link before travelling.

For ROW04, entering the venue with the ticket removes eligibility for a refund. For EQU02, the ticket is still accepted despite the changes to time and content. Holders of ROW06, ROW07 or EQU01, however, cannot use those tickets for the sessions receiving the transferred events.

The revised rowing schedule

The schedule announced on September 21 moved the heats originally planned for September 21 and 22 to September 23. Events previously set for September 23 moved to September 24. The events associated with ROW06 and ROW07 will therefore take place within ROW04, but this does not convert the original tickets into admission for ROW04.

The latest change was attributed to the effects of heavy rain on September 15: work was needed on the waterside facilities, including debris removal and equipment repairs. It followed an earlier revision prompted by rainfall on September 8, which had already cancelled all competition on September 20 and shifted later stages. That sequence is documented in the earlier rowing schedule notice. In practice, the session code printed on the ticket is a safer reference than trying to follow the dates alone.

The revised eventing schedule

For equestrian eventing, the approach of Typhoon No. 25 and the forecast of heavy rain led the committee to allow time to prepare the competition surface. Dressage, initially planned for September 21, moved to the morning of September 22. Cross-country, previously scheduled for the morning of September 22, moved to that afternoon.

EQU01 was invalidated and its events were incorporated into EQU02. An EQU01 ticket, however, is not valid for EQU02: spectators wishing to attend the rearranged program must buy another ticket. Availability must be checked through the official ticket channel. Existing EQU02 tickets remain valid; the start has been brought forward to 8 a.m., with dressage in the morning and cross-country in the afternoon. This session is not covered by the special refund provision.

A refund is not a transfer

The committee distinguishes four situations that may appear similar:

• session removed, ticket invalid and price refundable: ROW06, ROW07 and EQU01;
• session changed, ticket still valid and refundable only if unused: ROW04;
• session changed, ticket valid and not refundable: EQU02;
• a wish to watch the transferred contest: another ticket is required, subject to official availability.

The general rule given to buyers is that changes to a date, time or session content do not automatically result in a refund or admission on another date; the standard exception is the cancellation of the session itself. The notice to ticket holders also warns that printed information may no longer be current and advises spectators to check the website before visiting.

What ticket holders should do now

Keep the ticket even if it has been invalidated. The refund process will take place after the Games end, and affected buyers will be contacted through their registered email address. The notice does not yet provide the operational steps or individual deadlines in the cited material; wait for the instructions and consult the official ticket information service linked from the announcement.
