Falcons: depth chart, backups and injury-status limits

The positional order must be checked against the roster and each game’s inactive list

The Atlanta Falcons depth chart shows the planned hierarchy at each position, but it does not by itself confirm who will participate in a game. To interpret names such as Divine Deablo and Samson Ebukam, readers must distinguish among three documents: the depth-chart order, a player’s administrative roster category and the status released for the game. This analysis records the process used in Week 4 of 2026; it does not predict a future lineup or reconstruct the final inactive list.

What the depth chart says

On the official Falcons depth chart, each unit is arranged in numbered columns. The first player is the first option listed at that position, while the following names show the club’s stated order.

On the published defensive chart, Divine Deablo occupied the first column at one ILB spot, followed by Christian Harris and Josh Woods. Samson Ebukam was the second option in the DE line led by Brandon Dorlus, with Jared Ivey next. Therefore, although the club’s injury report described Deablo and Ebukam as defensive starters, the table did not necessarily place both in the first column. The documents use different language for different purposes.

The second column should not be treated as an automatic substitution, either. A depth chart presents a nominal hierarchy; it does not document every formation, rotation or game-specific decision.

Active roster does not guarantee game participation

The Falcons roster page separated active players from Reserve/Injured, Practice Squad and other reserve categories. Deablo, Ebukam, Harris, Woods, Dorlus and Ivey appeared among the active players in the material reviewed.

The NFL roster listing also marked Deablo, Ebukam and those possible alternatives as “ACT.” That confirms the administrative category displayed on those pages, not participation in a specific game. A player can belong to the active roster and still be inactive for that week.

What the October 3 report said

In the Falcons report published October 3, 2026, Deablo and Ebukam were designated questionable with hamstring injuries. No player had been ruled out in that document.

Ebukam was a full participant in Friday’s practice after missing Week 3. Deablo remained limited throughout the week. The same report also designated Yasir Abdullah questionable because of illness; Friday’s practice list recorded him as a full participant.

Those entries describe practice and availability information at that point. “Questionable” does not mean confirmed, out or cleared, and practice participation does not justify predicting the final decision.

Why this reading is retrospective

The game discussed in the report was no longer in the future when this article was published. The reviewed sources include, among their related-content headlines, a later page about the Week 4 inactives, but that page’s body and the definitive statuses of Deablo and Ebukam are not included in the supplied material. This article therefore assigns neither player a final status for that game.

To determine who was actually available, the decisive step would be to consult the official inactive list for the matchup. Because lineups and conditions can change, always check the club and NFL’s official pages for the relevant game.

How to combine the documents

Start with the depth chart to identify the nominal hierarchy. Next, check whether the player is active or in a reserve category. Use the injury report to follow practice participation and game designations. Finally, use that game’s inactive list to establish who was unavailable.

In this example, Harris and Woods followed Deablo on the same ILB line; Dorlus appeared before Ebukam and Ivey after him on the DE line. That identifies nominal alternatives, but it does not prove who took particular snaps, roles or formations.

A simple rule that prevents false conclusions

Treat every page as the answer to a different question: the depth chart shows order; the roster shows membership and category; the injury report records disclosed condition; and the inactive list resolves game availability. Only the correct combination prevents a preliminary designation from being presented as a confirmed lineup.
