France’s November 5 strike: confirmed rallies by city

The CGT’s national map and local notices identify meeting points, while the Paris route and transport plans require separate checks.

France is due to hold a nationwide day of strikes and demonstrations on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The broadest reference for finding a rally is the interactive map published by the CGT, which lists locations and times in different cities. Because details are set locally and may change, open the entry for the relevant city and check it again before leaving.

The map should not be read as a guarantee that every French service will stop. Three pieces of information must also be kept separate: the meeting place and time, any march route, and transport operations. Confirmation of one does not automatically confirm the others.

How to find the rally in your city

Start with the CGT’s national map and search for the city or nearest area. Read the complete marker, paying attention to the date, time, address or landmark. Then look for the notice from the local union organization identified in the entry. Among the available sources, a recent territorial publication is the best way to verify meeting details.

Check once more on the morning of November 5. If the map lists only a gathering, do not assume that a march will follow. If it mentions a requested route, do not treat that route as authorized without an explicit update. Screenshots and forwarded messages may preserve information that has since changed, so use the original page.

Confirmed times in Finistère

CGT Finistère has published six local calls, all for November 5, 2026, in metropolitan France local time. Carhaix has a 10:30 a.m. gathering outside the Maison des Syndicats; Morlaix, 10:30 a.m. at place des Otages; Quimper, 10:30 a.m. at place de la Résistance; and Quimperlé, 10:30 a.m. at the railway station.

In Brest, the meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. at place de la Liberté. Pont-l’Abbé has two 11 a.m. gathering points—outside lycée Laennec and the Union Locale—with the two processions due to join at rond-point du Pont Guern.

These details show why there is no single nationwide start time. They confirm specific points in Finistère but should not be extended to other cities or departments. For any other destination, return to the national map and check the relevant territorial page.

Paris: the route was not yet final

The route in Paris requires additional caution. According to Public Sénat, unions had submitted a request to the Préfecture de Police for a march from place de la Bastille to place de la Concorde. In the update published on November 3, however, authorization had not yet been granted.

Bastille–Concorde should therefore be understood as a requested route, not a final itinerary. Before traveling, consult the organizer’s update and official information from the local authority. Even a confirmed meeting point does not validate every street the procession may use.

Who called the action and what they are seeking

The call published by the CGT names CFDT, CGT, FO, Unsa and FSU in the mobilization across the public and private sectors. Its stated demands include higher wages and pensions, increases to the minimum wage and the civil-service index point, equal pay for women and men, more resources for public services and protection of employment.

The campaign also concerns the proposed 2027 budgets for the French state and Social Security. This context explains the nationwide call, but it does not establish participation levels in any particular city, school, hospital or company.

Check transport separately

The presence of a demonstration does not by itself explain how a journey will operate. Public Sénat reported strike calls affecting rail and urban transport, as well as possible effects on aviation. At the time of its report, SNCF had not yet posted its transport plan, while instructions on flight cancellations by airport and time slot were still due to be communicated to airlines.

These sources therefore cannot support a promise that a particular train, metro, bus or flight will run. Check directly with the operator responsible for the journey and verify the information again close to departure. The union map locates demonstrations; the status of a ticket or service belongs on the carrier’s channel.

A short check before leaving

Make sure the notice clearly says November 5, 2026; identify the city, local time and meeting point; determine whether the route is authorized or merely proposed; and consult the transport operator separately. This sequence reduces the risk of mistaking a nationwide call for a uniform shutdown or following an itinerary that is still pending.
