The road win takes FCG to 22 points, while Brive drop to fourth on 21 in the provisional Pro D2 standings.

FC Grenoble Rugby beat CA Brive 26–14 on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Stadium Municipal in Brive. After the Round 7 result, Grenoble moved provisionally into third place in Pro D2 with 22 points, while Brive slipped to fourth with 21. Those were the provisional positions after this match, not the final standings for the completed round.

Grenoble built its lead before halftime

Aurélien Callandret opened the scoring with a try in the 12th minute, converted by Samuel Davies for a 7–0 lead. Five minutes later, Yanis Charcosset scored for Brive and James Shillcock converted to level the match.

Davies restored Grenoble’s advantage with a penalty in the 21st minute. In the 28th, Nadir Megdoud scored FCG’s second try, again converted by Davies. Grenoble therefore went into halftime leading 17–7. The sequence is documented in the official Round 7 match report.

Brive responded, but Davies closed out the win

Davies extended the lead with a penalty in the 51st minute. Brive answered in the 60th when Francisco Coria Marchetti scored a try, converted by Shillcock, to make it 20–14.

The six-point margin kept the contest within reach, but Davies kicked two further penalties in the 63rd and 68th minutes to set the final score at 26–14. Grenoble finished with two converted tries and four penalties; Brive’s 14 points came from two converted tries.

The result changes the provisional order

According to the competition, this was Grenoble’s second away win of the season. It moved the club into third with 22 points and left Brive fourth with 21 in the provisional table published after the match.

That qualification matters: the available overall standings page was still labelled as covering Round 6. The figures reported after Brive–Grenoble should therefore be treated as the official match report’s provisional snapshot, rather than confirmation of the fully completed Round 7 standings.

Both clubs play again on October 23

Grenoble host Biarritz Olympique PB at the Stade des Alpes on Friday, October 23, at 9 p.m. local time in France. Earlier that day, Brive visit RC Narbonnais at the Parc des Sports et de l’Amitié at 7 p.m., also local French time.

Brive’s fixture is also listed in the club’s official schedule and results page, alongside the defeat to Grenoble. Dates and kickoff times can change, so supporters should check the official links before matchday.

What the result means within the season

The 2026–27 Pro D2 regular season consists of 16 clubs playing 30 rounds. The top six then advance to the postseason, while the champion earns direct promotion to the Top 14. This format published by the league gives context to Grenoble’s points, although the campaign remains at an early stage.

Brive now face an immediate test away from home. Grenoble, meanwhile, have an opportunity to defend their provisional position in front of their own supporters. The two October 23 fixtures will provide the next concrete measure of each club’s progress.
