Racing Santander beat Ribadesella 0–2 in the Copa del Rey

Substitute Asier Villalibre scored both goals to send the Cantabrian club into the second round.

Racing Santander beat Ribadesella 0–2 at Oreyana stadium on October 29, 2026, advancing to the second round of the Copa del Rey. Asier Villalibre scored both goals, in the 48th and 63rd minutes, after coming on at halftime. The reviewed sources do not confirm the next opponent, which remains subject to the competition’s official arrangements.

Ribadesella vs Racing result

Racing won the tie by two goals. LALIGA’s match page records the final score as Ribadesella 0–2 Racing in the first round and identifies Villalibre as the scorer of both goals.

The first half ended 0–0. According to the EFE report published by Infobae, Ribadesella remained defensively organised, while the visitors struggled to turn their initiative into genuinely dangerous chances.

Villalibre decided the match after halftime

The decisive change came at the beginning of the second half. Villalibre replaced Juan Carlos Arana at the interval and, in the 48th minute, met an Iker Luque cross with his left foot to open the scoring.

The second goal arrived in the 63rd minute. Jorge Salinas delivered the cross, and Villalibre headed it in to make it 0–2. The sequence and both assists are recorded in LALIGA’s match chronology and in the report by Fútbol Asturiano.

How the match developed

Before Villalibre’s introduction, Racing had taken several shots but reached halftime without scoring. The visitors had already forced Diego Fernández to save an effort by Jorge Castellanos and produced attempts through Arana, Giorgi Guliashvili and other players.

Racing continued to attack after going 0–2 up. The match log records saves, blocked shots and a Guliashvili free kick that missed the target, but the score did not change again. Ribadesella also tried to respond: Alejandro Fernández Álvarez had a shot blocked in the 59th minute.

What the victory means

The result eliminated Ribadesella and qualified Racing for the second round. That sporting consequence is confirmed by both EFE and the regional reports. Because this was a knockout tie, the result does not award points in a league table.

The clean-sheet victory gave Racing a 2–0 winning margin in this single match at Oreyana. It does not establish the venue, date, kickoff time or other conditions of the following round.

The next opponent still needs confirmation

The reviewed sources confirm Racing’s qualification but do not name a second-round opponent. The Royal Spanish Football Federation’s competition page provides official tournament information; supporters should check it for changes and for confirmation once the draw or pairing is published.

Until then, naming an opponent, kickoff time or venue would be premature. Racing’s next fixture in another competition should also be distinguished from its next Copa del Rey match: a league game does not determine the club’s path in the knockout tournament.
