A comeback can lead an album chart and rank lower on another list without any contradiction. Before comparing positions, identify four elements: product, territory, tracking period and unit measured. A physical album, track, video and combined consumption are different objects. A position only becomes meaningful when the headline includes those four fields.

The essential comparison
| Chart | What the consulted page supports | Displayed scope |
|---|---|---|
| Circle Album Chart | an album ranking organized by week | the available edition showed August 30 to September 5, 2026 |
| Hanteo | a portal with a real-time album chart and initial-sales records | figures and product versions change during tracking |
| YouTube Charts | YouTube’s official rankings | category, territory and period must be confirmed on the page |
| Billboard Global 200 | Billboard’s official Global 200 chart | the current edition and methodology must be checked |
| Official Asian Music Chart | Asian songs in the UK, using sales and streams over seven days | September 11–17, 2026 edition |
This table does not make the positions equivalent. It works as a filter: if two rows do not share the same object, territory, window and unit, their figures answer different questions.

Circle and Hanteo are not synonyms
On the official Circle Album Chart page, the edition consulted on September 16 displayed completed weeks. The latest visible one was week 36, covering August 30 to September 5, 2026. That alone prevents an automatic comparison with a counter updated at another time.
The official Hanteo portal displayed, on the same consultation date, a real-time album ranking, products separated by version and initial-sales records still in progress. It also published notices about data validation and corrections. Therefore, “number one on Hanteo” must state which chart, when the snapshot was taken and whether the figure was still open.
The safe reading is straightforward: do not label both simply as “Korean sales.” Record the chart’s full name, edition and data status. A specific version on a real-time list should not be presented as though it were another institution’s closed weekly result.

Video, track and album are different objects
YouTube Charts must be checked for the correct category, territory and period before a position is repeated. Performance associated with video does not, by itself, prove leadership in physical albums or in a chart that combines other formats.
The same caution applies to the Billboard Global 200. The name “Global 200” does not justify reducing any placement to “world number one”: the exact chart, corresponding edition and position found on the official page must be cited. Because the current content of those two pages was not preserved in the consulted material, this guide assigns no specific positions or figures to them. Check the official links, as editions and conditions may change.

“Asian” does not mean “global K-pop”
The Official Asian Music Chart is a British list. Its page defines the September 11–17, 2026 edition as the week’s biggest Asian songs in the UK, based on sales and streams over seven days. The Top 40 is compiled by the Official Charts Company and broadcast on BBC Asian Network.
In that edition, “Radhimaa,” by Abhyankkar, Teji, Asma and Vivek, was number one. The example is useful because it breaks an automatic association: an “Asian Music” chart is neither exclusive to K-pop nor representative of the entire planet. If a Korean comeback does not appear there, that does not invalidate results achieved in another territory or format.
The IFPI annual example
The IFPI clearly demonstrates how changing the unit changes the result. In its published 2025 rankings, Stray Kids’ *KARMA* placed second on the Global Album Sales Chart, with 3.49 million, but sixth on the Global Top 10 Album Chart, which spans consumption formats including physical sales, downloads and streaming.
In the same set, Stray Kids ranked second among global recording artists for 2025. These are three legitimate but different claims: an album-sales position, an album-consumption position and an artist position. None should replace the others.
A checklist for testing a headline
Before sharing “world number one,” look for:
1. the chart’s full name and official link;
2. the track or album title, not only the artist;
3. the country or reach declared by the source itself;
4. the edition’s exact dates;
5. the metric: sales, streams, video or a combination;
6. whether the data is real-time, provisional or a closed week;
7. a distinction between a product version, the full release and artist performance.
If one element is missing, treat the statement as incomplete, not necessarily false. This method avoids turning methodological differences into a supposed “chart war” and helps identify simultaneous achievements across distinct dimensions.
