K-pop albums in one parcel: records and tax review

How to document albums, gifts and photocards shipped together, follow customs inspection and request a review before payment.

When importing several K-pop albums in one parcel to Brazil, retain the complete order, invoice and proof of payment, including quantities, prices, shipping, insurance and descriptions of gifts or photocards. These records let you compare the purchase with the declared contents and, if a charge appears incorrect, support a review request through Minhas Importações before generating the bank slip or paying by Pix.

The key is not to treat each album as a separate parcel in your own calculations, but to understand that customs inspects the shipment and its documentation. A photocard supplied as a gift remains part of the parcel’s physical contents and should be represented consistently in the seller’s records. Rules and amounts may change; check official channels before completing a purchase or paying a charge.

What to check when one parcel contains several items

A shipment containing two album versions, a box set, posters and photocards needs a description that makes the purchase identifiable. Compare the order confirmation with the invoice: product names, quantities, price, shipping, insurance—if applicable—and discounts should form a coherent record.

Korea Post’s EMS label guidance calls for accurate sender and recipient details, plus an accurate English description of the contents and their value in US dollars on the customs declaration. It also advises making the invoice accessible for customs inspection. Missing or incorrect information may create delivery or customs-formality problems.

If a store calls an inclusion a “gift,” “benefit” or “pre-order benefit,” keep the order page showing its relationship to the album. Do not assign an invented price to the photocard; preserve what the seller actually reported. If customs issues a charge or asks for documents, these files help explain the purchase’s real composition.

Checkout tax and a later charge are different stages

To determine whether tax was collected in advance, inspect the checkout breakdown and receipt for a line identified as tax, separate from product and shipping prices. Do not assume it was paid merely because a store ships to Brazil or mentions customs clearance.

The Federal Revenue Service’s International Purchases portal provides current rules, a tax calculator and a way to check stores certified under Programa Remessa Conforme. Because rates and conditions can change, use it to verify the rule in force on the purchase date.

When a postal shipment produces an amount due after arrival, Correios says the official charge appears in tracking, its app and Minhas Importações. Taxes and any Despacho Postal fee are paid by bank slip or Pix within those environments. Treat messages containing outside links or requesting transfers through other channels with caution.

How to follow customs inspection

The recipient must have a CPF in good standing, and the name entered at purchase must match the Federal Revenue Service registration. According to Correios, every international parcel is inspected before entry into Brazil is authorized.

Register with Meu Correios and monitor the item through Minhas Importações. The platform links shipments to a CPF or CNPJ, displays requirements, accepts supporting documents when requested and enables payment generation. Keep your address, email and telephone number current as well.

According to Correios, the status “Em fiscalização aduaneira” means the item is not yet in the postal operator’s possession. Correios gives no deadline for completion because the review belongs to the Federal Revenue Service and, where applicable, other responsible agencies. A lack of movement therefore does not support predicting a release date.

How to interpret the charge

For postal shipments handled under the Simplified Taxation Regime, Correios states that Import Duty can be up to 60% of the invoiced merchandise value, with transport and insurance added when not already included. ICMS is also charged according to the destination state’s legislation. The page further says that a Despacho Postal fee, separate from postage, may apply.

This means an estimate based only on one album’s sticker price is not reliable. For a combined parcel, check the stated assessment basis, recognized contents, quantities, transport and insurance. Consult the Federal Revenue Service’s calculator and current rules before deciding what to do, because the applicable treatment may have changed since this guide was published.

How to request a review before the option closes

If you disagree with the Import Duty, request a review in Minhas Importações before generating the bank slip or paying by Pix. Correios says supporting material can include the store page showing descriptions, quantities, prices, shipping and insurance, as well as proof of payment and the commercial invoice. The documents should clearly show when several albums and gifts belong to the same order.

Documents are submitted electronically and, according to the Correios page, information or files can be sent only once. Check completeness and readability before confirming. The Federal Revenue Service assesses the request; Correios neither manages the decision nor provides a completion deadline.

The page also states that payment or a review request must be made within 20 calendar days after the charge becomes available. Since procedures can change, confirm the deadline displayed in Minhas Importações itself. If payment is not made within the applicable period, the parcel may be sent back abroad.

A simple file for every purchase

Create a folder containing the order confirmation, product pages, invoice, payment receipt, available declaration, tracking number and screenshots of official requests. Name files by date and order number. For a box with random inclusions, keep the commercial description explaining that feature instead of guessing which photocard is inside the sealed package.

This record does not guarantee clearance or eliminate taxes, but it helps you answer a request accurately and assess whether a charge matches the actual order. For current rules, payments and disputes, use only the Federal Revenue Service, the Correios app, official tracking and Minhas Importações.
