To mail a physical letter to a K-pop artist in Korea, begin with the most important rule: use only an address published through a current official channel of the agency or artist. Then prepare the envelope as regular international mail, with a complete return address, a clearly legible recipient in Roman characters, and “Rep. of KOREA” on the final line. Do not turn the letter into a gift: objects, cash, and valuables can change its postal category, violate agency policy, or prevent acceptance.

First confirm that the artist accepts letters
An agency’s business address should not automatically be treated as its fan-mail address. Look for an official announcement that explicitly says letters are accepted and identifies the delivery channel. The rule may specify a post-office box, an internal addressee, a particular period, or another procedure.
Permission to send a letter is also different from permission to send gifts. An agency may accept a written paper message while rejecting every attached object. Official pages can change, so check the notice again on the day you mail the envelope and copy the address exactly as published.
The PLEDIS and ADOR notices listed during the planning of this article were not among the pages actually available for review in this edition. This guide therefore does not reproduce addresses or attribute current rules to SEVENTEEN or NewJeans. The photographs of the groups only provide visual context for the subject.

Keep agency policy and postal rules separate
There are two independent checks. The agency decides whether it receives fan mail, where it must be sent, and what it may contain. Postal operators in the origin country and Korea determine the mailing format, labeling, dimensions, and admissibility.
Following only one set of requirements is not enough. A properly prepared postal item can still be rejected by a company if it reaches the wrong location. Likewise, a letter authorized by an agency can encounter problems when its address is incomplete or its contents are prohibited.
Before buying postage, show the prepared envelope to a postal clerk and describe its contents accurately. Check the conditions of the operator in the country of origin as well, since Korean requirements do not replace them.

How to address an envelope to Korea
Korea Post says that the recipient’s name and address should be written precisely and recognizably in Roman characters and Arabic numerals. The destination city or province and country should be in capital letters, with the postal or delivery-area code when possible. For mail addressed to Korea, it asks senders to place “Rep. of KOREA” at the bottom of the address.
Place the sender’s name, address, and postal code in the top-left corner of the address side. Do not use pencil, do not underline the country, city, or postal code, and include only one sender address and one recipient address.
A safe template, to be completed only with official information, is:
```text
[OFFICIAL RECIPIENT / ARTIST]
[BUILDING OR DEPARTMENT, IF PROVIDED]
[STREET AND NUMBER]
[DISTRICT, CITY, POSTAL CODE]
REP. OF KOREA
```
If the official notice provides the address in Korean too, reproducing it alongside the romanized version may help, but do not translate or invent components. Preserve the department, number, district, and postal code exactly as supplied.
Prepare a simple, processable letter
Use a paper envelope without bulging contents. Under Korea Post’s size requirements, a rectangular letter must measure at least 90 × 140 mm; its greatest dimension may be up to 600 mm, while length, width, and depth combined may total up to 900 mm. The stated weight limit for letters is 2 kg, but that does not mean an agency accepts large or heavy envelopes.
For a standardized item, the page specifies a maximum thickness of 5 mm, weight under 20 g, and dimensions from 90 × 140 mm to 120 × 235 mm. The flap must be completely sealed, and the address belongs on the plain side without the closing flap. Staples, metal eyelets, hook fasteners, and protruding objects keep an item from qualifying as standardized.
In practical terms, a light sheet or card without accessories is easier to keep within the letter category. Confirm the postage and final classification with the operator handling the mailing.
Do not conceal gifts inside the letter
Do not place cash, coins, jewelry, or other valuables in an ordinary letter. Korea Post’s prohibited-item rules also bar narcotics, psychotropic substances, explosive or flammable materials, and other articles whose import or circulation is prohibited at the destination.
Even a seemingly harmless object can create a bulge, require a customs declaration, or change the shipment’s category. Stickers, key rings, cosmetics, food, and small gifts should not be assumed permissible merely because they fit inside an envelope. Without explicit agency authorization and postal confirmation, send only the message on paper.
Checklist before mailing
Confirm that the official notice remains current; compare every address line; identify the sender and recipient clearly; write in ink; keep “REP. OF KOREA” on the final line; seal the entire flap; and remove cash, gifts, metal pieces, and any bulky object.
Keep a readable photograph of the envelope and the mailing receipt. Tracking documents the postal journey when the purchased service provides it, but it cannot guarantee that the artist’s staff will forward or answer the letter. The realistic goal is to prepare mail that complies with both the authorized channel and the applicable postal rules.
