Lou Jeanmonnot: what the “LOU” trademark filing covers

The application includes clothing, footwear and ski-related items, but confirms no collection, store, prices or launch

Lou Jeanmonnot has filed a trademark called “LOU,” associated with clothing, footwear and textile items related to skiing. The filing seeks protection for potential commercial use within the stated scope, but it does not mean that a collection has already been produced or offered for sale. As of September 30, 2026, the sources reviewed provide no store, catalog, prices or launch date.

What was made official

The development reported by Sports.fr is the filing of the “LOU” trademark. According to the report, the application includes a visual identity: a simplified drawing of a wolf moving to the right, with the name Lou visible in the design. In French, the composition plays on the similar sound of “Lou” and *loup*, the word for wolf.

The key term is filing. The act formally submits an application and defines the goods or services for which protection is sought. By itself, it is not an announcement that a commercial operation is ready. Without additional documents, it also does not establish the current stage of the administrative review or how the sign will ultimately be used.

Which categories appear in the filing

The French report places “LOU” mainly in class 25 and describes three areas: clothing, footwear, and equipment or textiles connected to skiing. That scope is consistent with a potential sportswear or merchandise line, but it should be read as the field of protection claimed—not as a list of goods already manufactured.

The available sources therefore do not support claims that jackets, T-shirts, boots, uniforms or any other specific item will be released. No manufacturer, distributor, sales platform, commercial territory or purchasing terms have been announced either. Anyone encountering an offer under the “LOU” name should check its origin and the seller’s information; the filing alone does not authenticate an offer.

A trademark filing is not a product launch

A trademark can be filed before any collection is shown publicly. The application creates a framework for using the name and visual identity in the specified categories and may support future commercial agreements. Legal possibility and consumer availability, however, are different pieces of information.

Here, the source discusses the future development of product ranges, merchandise management and the organization of partnerships. Those are possible objectives, not confirmed products. The material reviewed includes no collection photographs, official sales page, price list or schedule. Nor can any partnership be attributed to the brand simply because a company or another athlete is associated with the subject in a report.

Jeanmonnot’s business structure

The filing is not entirely separate from the athlete’s existing business activity. Sports.fr reports that Jeanmonnot manages LJL Sport, a single-shareholder simplified joint-stock company created through the Besançon commercial court in February 2023. This provides context for the organization of her commercial interests, but it does not prove that the company will manufacture or sell the items covered by the application.

The reference to Martin Fourcade also requires precision. The report presents him as a biathlon precedent because he filed the “Martin Fourcade” trademark about ten years earlier; it also names Quentin Fillon-Maillet as another athlete who followed that route. The comparison concerns trademark-protection strategy. It does not demonstrate a partnership, contract, joint collection or Fourcade’s involvement in “LOU.”

Why the name has sporting value

Jeanmonnot comes to this initiative with a profile built through biathlon. Her official Equipe de France profile records four relay world titles, 43 World Cup podiums—including 23 victories—and 118 World Cup starts. The same page says she was born on October 28, 1998, in Pontarlier and belongs to Olympic Mont d’Or.

At the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games, she won gold in the mixed and women’s relays, silver in the individual event and bronze in the sprint, according to the French team’s page. Those results help explain the potential commercial value of her first name, but they do not change what can currently be established about the filing’s legal or commercial reach.

The International Biathlon Union also maintains the French athlete’s profile and identifies the 2026/2027 season, although the page reviewed still lists average performance data as unavailable. It is an appropriate source for following sporting results, not for confirming branded products.

What still needs confirmation

Before “LOU” can be described as a line available to the public, there must be verifiable commercial communication: an announcement from the athlete or responsible company, a catalog, an official sales channel and applicable terms. Until then, the collection, price and launch remain unconfirmed.

The reliable conclusion as of September 30, 2026, is narrower: a trademark was filed for the described categories, supported by its own visual identity and connected to an existing business structure. It may be preparation for commercial activity; it is not proof that a store has opened.
