Nintendo Switch 2 in France: how to assess each bundle

A practical calculation separates a genuine discount from the value of games, membership, and storage you may not want.

A French Nintendo Switch 2 offer is worthwhile only when the bundle’s final price is lower than the standalone console plus only the extras you would actually buy. Before deciding, also check whether the crossed-out figure is the same seller’s lowest price over the previous 30 days—not merely a recommended price. This method lets you compare unlike products without treating every bonus as savings.

Prices and stock change quickly. The figures below reflect published offers and should be confirmed on the seller’s official page before payment.

Start with the exact contents, not the percentage

Nintendo France announced three options for the end of 2026. The Nintendo Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle contains the console, a full game download, and a code for 90 days of individual Nintendo Switch Online membership. The Mario Kart World version contains the same types of items with a different game. The 40th anniversary The Legend of Zelda edition includes a console, dock, and Joy-Con 2 controllers with Triforce-inspired designs; the announcement does not mention a game or membership. Release dates were given as October 22 and 29, depending on the bundle.

Those differences mean the products are not interchangeable. Check the official bundle descriptions, then list the console, game, membership, accessories, and physical or digital format separately. A themed name or special finish may have personal value, but it should not automatically count as financial savings.

Apply France’s 30-day rule

In France, Black Friday is a promotion rather than a legally regulated *soldes* sale. Promotions can run outside the official sale periods, but price-transparency rules still apply. When a retailer announces a reduction, the previous price must be the lowest price that same retailer offered to all consumers during the preceding 30 days.

The rule covers both physical shops and online sales. For successive reductions during a defined campaign, the reference is the price charged before the first reduction. The Institut national de la consommation explains the distinction, while the DGCCRF’s Black Friday guidance recommends checking both the reality of the discount and the product’s characteristics.

A “recommended price,” “comparison value,” or price charged by another retailer therefore does not prove that this seller is offering a legally defined reduction. Que Choisir warns that comparison prices may be displayed much like real promotions. Look for the explanation next to the crossed-out figure and save the page if the wording is unclear.

Calculate the bundle’s useful value

Use this formula: effective bundle cost = delivered bundle price − the value you assign to wanted extras. Compare the result with the delivered price of the standalone console from the same retailer and reputable competitors.

As a calculation example only, suppose a bundle costs €470 delivered and the console alone costs €430. If you would buy the included game for up to €50, the console’s effective cost is €420, giving the bundle a €10 advantage for you. If you do not want the game, assign it zero; the bundle then costs €40 more. For a membership, count only the period you intended to purchase. An unwanted camera, controller, case, or visual edition is also worth zero in this calculation.

Do not use an extra’s list price without checking its current standalone price. The aim is not to construct the highest possible valuation, but to identify spending that the bundle genuinely prevents.

Compare delivered totals and conditions

A Frandroid selection listed a standalone Switch 2 at €429.99 instead of €499.99 and an Ocarina of Time bundle at €469 instead of €489. The figures illustrate why percentages are insufficient: the seller, exact contents, and stated reference all matter. The page also discloses that some links are affiliate links. Verify the prices and terms in the selection, as availability and pricing may change.

Add shipping and every mandatory charge. Also confirm the seller’s identity, delivery terms, returns policy, applicable warranty, and game format. A download code should not be valued as a resellable physical copy. Save screenshots of the listing, cart, and final price.

Do not pay for incompatible storage

If a bundle includes a memory card, check the standard rather than capacity alone. Nintendo says Switch 2 supports only microSD Express cards for expanding the space available to downloaded software. Standard microSD cards used with the original Switch do not perform that role in the new console.

Game save data remains in the Switch 2’s internal memory, so do not value the card as storage for saves. The official microSD Express guidance states that capacities up to 2 TB are supported and that an internet console update is required on first use. An incompatible card is not a useful bonus, even when it makes the nominal discount look larger.

Make the decision with three numbers

Record three figures: the standalone console’s delivered price, the bundle’s delivered price, and the total value of extras you already planned to buy. Subtract the third from the second. If the result is below the first, the bundle is cheaper for your use. Separately check whether the advertised reduction uses that seller’s lowest price over the previous 30 days.

The conclusions can differ: a discount may be legitimate while the bundle remains poor value for you; a bundle without a dramatic advertised percentage may deliver the lowest useful cost. If the reference price appears wrong, begin with a written complaint to the retailer. The French sources also identify consumer mediation and SignalConso as possible routes when the issue remains unresolved.
