Run in Lyon 2026: tracking and road closures

Tracking is limited to the half marathon and marathon, while streets, bridges, and garages face restrictions Sunday.

Anyone looking to follow a runner in Run in Lyon 2026 must use the official link shared by the participant. The feature only works for half-marathon and marathon entrants who authorized tracking during registration. Getting around Lyon this Sunday, October 4, also requires planning for closures affecting cars, two-wheeled vehicles, bicycles, and other personal mobility devices.

The sources consulted do not promise a public video broadcast. The available service tracks the participant. Because traffic arrangements may change under police direction, check the official Ville de Lyon page before setting out.

How to follow a participant

The official Live Tracking page says the link becomes available 48 hours before the runner’s start. Viewing depends on consent given during registration and is restricted to half-marathon and marathon participants.

In practical terms, relatives and friends need to receive the URL from the runner. If the entrant did not authorize the feature or is taking part in another race, the organizer does not confirm tracking through this tool. The website does not describe it as an audiovisual stream either, so users should not look for a “live channel” expecting continuous race footage.

The organizer’s race-day checklist recommends that runners send the link to their contacts and review practical information, including access to the start. The checklist and the dedicated tracking page name different sponsors; to use the service today, rely on the current Live Tracking page.

Check the course before choosing a viewing point

Run in Lyon provides separate files for the marathon, half marathon, 10K, and charity run on its courses and profiles page. These maps are the appropriate reference for selecting a viewing location and avoiding a street used by a different distance.

A cautious approach is to compare the participant’s race map with the municipal restrictions and select one accessible location. Repeatedly crossing the course may be difficult because many quays, bridges, and adjoining streets are closed as well. The map identifies the course; it does not replace the city’s traffic orders.

Central closures on October 4

From 3 a.m. to 5 p.m., traffic is prohibited under police control on Rue de la Barre between Place Bellecour and Quai Jules Courmont. During the same window, restrictions cover Avenue Adolphe Max, Pont Bonaparte, Quai Fulchiron, Quai Romain Rolland, Quai des Célestins, and other roads listed by the city.

A broader area is closed from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. The list includes Pont de la Guillotière, Pont La Feuillée, Pont Morand, Pont Robert Schuman, Pont Général Koenig, Pont Georges Clémenceau, and Pont Masaryk, among many quays and streets. On Quai Charles de Gaulle, between the LPA PO parking facility and Villeurbanne, traffic uses a reduced roadway from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In the Gerland area, closures from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. include Avenue Jean Jaurès between Parc de Gerland and Avenue Tony Garnier, Quai Fillon, Rue Jean Bouin, Rue Alexander Fleming, Allée Pierre de Coubertin, Rue de Turin, Rue Jonas Salk, and Pont Raymond Barre. All times are local Lyon time.

Parking and garage access

Parking bans began on different dates, and some remain in force until October 6. On October 4, a long list of locations has parking classified as obstructive, including Place Bellecour, several quays, and central streets. Bicycles and personal mobility devices are also covered in certain sections.

Central garages have specific rules. Célestins and Saint-Georges allow neither entry nor exit from 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. Terreaux, Morand, and other facilities are affected from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Morand is closed during that period. Jean Jaurès closes from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Entry to Bourse remains possible, but exits are prohibited from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Antonin Poncet has no entry during that period, although drivers may exit.

The city says other LPA parking facilities remain accessible and operate normally. Still, an open garage does not guarantee that the usual route to it is clear. Check both the intended entry and exit, especially if the journey crosses quays or bridges.

How to reduce disruption during the race

Before leaving, open the map for the correct distance, confirm that the runner sent the tracking link, and review the latest municipal list. Residents who need to move a vehicle or reach a garage should examine parking, traffic, entry, and exit rules separately: their schedules are not necessarily identical.

Spectators can reduce the need to cross the course by staying at one location. Anyone simply traveling through Lyon may find it more predictable to avoid the race perimeter during the published windows than to navigate successive barriers. Closures are applied under police direction, so check the municipal page again immediately before traveling.
