Disney and Netflix: licensed titles coming to Spain

Ice Age and Percy Jackson open the deal, while other series and films have separate schedules or pending regional dates.

Disney has licensed a group of films and series to Netflix, but this does not transfer the company’s entire catalog or make the productions Netflix exclusives. For viewers in Spain, the most concrete announcements are the worldwide arrival on October 4, 2026, of the first two seasons of *Percy Jackson and the Olympians* and all five *Ice Age* films. Other titles have later dates, different territorial terms, or releases that still vary by region.

Licensing does not mean exclusivity

A license allows a platform to show particular works for a period and in the territories covered by an agreement. It is not a purchase of those properties, nor does it necessarily mean they will leave another service.

According to Variety’s report, the new agreement combines library titles and current seasons for varying periods. The report also says productions already available on Disney+ or Hulu will remain there, including *Ice Age* and *Percy Jackson*. Simultaneous availability on both platforms is therefore part of the announced approach, although each catalog should be checked in the subscriber’s territory.

The agreement does not open Disney’s complete library to Netflix. It identifies specific works, seasons, and windows. That distinction prevents a limited list from being mistaken for a general content migration.

Ice Age and Percy Jackson arrive first

Seasons 1 and 2 of *Percy Jackson and the Olympians* arrive on Netflix worldwide on October 4 for a three-month promotional window ahead of the third season’s Disney+ premiere, which the report dates for November 20.

On the same day, Netflix receives all five *Ice Age* films worldwide, also for three months: *Ice Age* (2002), *Ice Age: The Meltdown* (2006), *Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs* (2009), *Ice Age: Continental Drift* (2012), and *Ice Age: Collision Course* (2016). The promotion precedes the theatrical release of *Ice Age: Boiling Point*, reported for February 5, 2027.

Because the announced scope for both groups is worldwide, Spain is included. Subscribers should still search for each title through their own accounts: profile language, maturity ratings, blocks, and VPN use can affect what appears.

Series follow different schedules

*Will Trent*, seasons 1–4, has a worldwide Netflix launch on November 3. *Shifting Gears*, seasons 1–2, reaches the United States on December 1 and international markets in January; the source provides no specific date for Spain.

*Tracker*, seasons 1–3, was announced for international markets outside the United States on February 26, 2027. Among the library series, *Revenge* and *Army Wives* are listed for worldwide distribution. *This Is Us* is slated for international territories outside the United States. *Felicity*, meanwhile, launches in the US on October 7 and in international markets later, with no Spanish date specified. *Fresh Off the Boat* is planned for the US and selected regions, without confirmation that Spain is among them.

These distinctions matter: “international,” “worldwide,” and “selected regions” are not interchangeable. When an announcement does not set a Spanish date, it should not be turned into a local promise.

Animated films are planned for 2027

The agreement also includes a selection of films from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar. *Soul*, *Elio*, and *Raya and the Last Dragon* are among the works expected to stream on Netflix worldwide beginning in early 2027.

For this group, however, the report specifically notes that available titles and launch dates will vary by region. The announcement supports an international rollout, but it does not confirm that all three films will appear together or on the same day in Spain’s catalog.

The Spanish Disney+ portal presents the service as a home for productions from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic, FX, and Hulu. This helps explain how licensing selected works to a competitor can coexist with Disney’s own offering. The page reviewed does not individually confirm whether each title in the agreement will remain available in Spain.

How to verify a title in Spain

The safest check is through an account being used in Spain. Search for the exact title and review its page, the seasons shown, and any date displayed by the interface. Check again near release, especially when the date has only been announced as “January” or “early 2027.”

The Netflix Spain Help Center explains that a work may be missing because it has not yet premiered in the country, its rights do not cover the region, or because of profile language, maturity settings, a profile block, or VPN use. Failing to find a title in one search therefore does not prove that the agreement was canceled.

It is also useful to look for notices on the title page. Netflix says titles may leave because of licensing agreements and that renewal decisions take into account whether rights remain available, regional popularity, and licensing cost. When a license will not be renewed, the service says it provides notice before removal.

What viewers in Spain can conclude

On October 4, the announced worldwide scope gives a direct answer for *Percy Jackson* and the five *Ice Age* films. *Will Trent*, *Tracker*, *Shifting Gears*, and the 2027 animation group must be assessed according to their separate schedules. *Felicity* and *Fresh Off the Boat* still lack Spain-specific confirmation in the reviewed source.

The key point is straightforward: the deal expands the circulation of selected works; it does not replace Disney+ or guarantee an identical window in every country. Because catalogs and licenses change, the title page viewed through a Spanish account remains the decisive confirmation.
