Dakar 2026: free activities, bookings, and tickets

Road cycling and triathlon are the two competitions offering free, open access without a booking. Fan Zones and the Corniche Ouest Festival are also free, but visitors must reserve a pass online. The other sports sessions and the opening ceremony are paid. That is the key distinction for anyone planning to attend Dakar 2026 in person.

The Youth Olympic Games run from October 31 to November 13, 2026, across the Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly clusters. Prices, availability, and conditions may change, so complete the final check on the official ticketing platform.

Which sports require session tickets

In Dakar, paid admission applies to Baseball5, rugby sevens, street skateboarding, breaking, 3x3 basketball, athletics, taekwondo, futsal, and swimming. In Diamniadio, tickets are required for equestrian jumping, badminton, boxing, archery, fencing, table tennis, wushu taolu, judo, artistic gymnastics, and futsal.

These sessions use general admission with unnumbered seating inside the selected zone. The opening ceremony works differently, with reserved seats and separate price categories.

How the Saly day pass works

The paid Saly Beach West day pass provides access to the venue during the day and to competitions, subject to the availability of standing or seated places. It covers beach volleyball, beach handball, beach wrestling, beach sprint rowing, and windsurfing. Triathlon remains free even though it takes place in the same cluster.

The guide lists the day pass at XOF 1,500. Senegalese news agency APS also reported competition tickets starting at XOF 1,000 and free Fan Zones. Check live prices and availability through the official channel before traveling.

Booking, payment, and digital tickets

Booking starts by creating an account and selecting a session by date or discipline. A paid reservation is released if every payment step is not completed within two hours. Confirmed bookings are final, noncancelable, and nonrefundable.

Tickets are issued online. The guide sets limits of ten or 16 tickets for many sessions, while the Festival has a five-pass limit. The precise allowance depends on the selected product and should be reviewed before confirmation.

Accessibility and venue entry

The guide prices accessible tickets for people with reduced mobility at XOF 1,000 for general disciplines, with exceptions for the opening ceremony and events. This does not establish that accessible places remain available for a particular session.

The official terms provide for security screening and possible identity checks. They also advise spectators to arrive early enough to complete entry formalities. Guide dogs and mobility aids for disabled people are among the permitted exceptions; review the full rules and any updates before visiting.

What to check before leaving

Use the official platform to confirm the session, venue, pass type, availability, and current conditions. Save the digital ticket as instructed by the system. Do not treat a free Fan Zone as access without formalities: it still requires a booking. Road cycling and triathlon do not require reservations under the guide, but the event’s security rules still apply.
